Nashik Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) was established on 21st March 2017 under the provisions of the Maharashtra Metropolitan Region Development Authority Ordinance, 2016. As an integral component of the Regional Plan of Nashik District, NMRDA plays a crucial role in shaping the development landscape of the region. The Nashik District spans a total area of 15,530.00 square kilometres and comprises 15 tehsils. The NMRDA covers a substantial portion of Nashik District, comprising approximately 18% of its total area, with a significant focus on greenfield development.

NMRDA's establishment marks a significant step towards coordinating and streamlining developmental efforts within the broader framework of Nashik's regional planning and growth strategy.

NMRDA's jurisdiction encompasses a diverse landscape, comprising numerous villages and talukas within its boundaries. With an area of about 2649.14 sq.km., it includes 275 villages across various talukas such as Nashik, Niphad, Sinnar, Dindori, Trimbakeshwar, and Igatpuri

Boundaries of NMRDA

The Nashik Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) delineates its boundaries across various talukas, encompassing diverse landscapes and strategic areas for development. Stretching approximately 30 kilometres to the east from the outer edges of the Nashik Municipal Corporation, NMRDA extends into Niphad Taluka. To the west, its jurisdiction spans about 36 kilometres into Trimbak Taluka. In the north, NMRDA covers an area of around 24 kilometres into Dindori Taluka, while in the south, it extends approximately 36 kilometres into Igatpuri Taluka. In total, the area within NMRDA's boundaries encompasses about 2649.14 square kilometres, offering ample space for planned growth and development initiatives

NMRDA has been set up as a legally empowered and a self-financing corporate body by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra vide Notification No. TPS-1117/212/pra.kra.100/Navi-9, dtd. 12.01.2018. The greatest advantage of NMRDA is that most of its area falls under Greenfield development.
